The flowers of the Cananga odorata tree are handpicked at dawn when they are at their most fragrant. The condensed steam vapor collected during the steam distillation process is used as the Ylang Ylang oil.
The quality of the Ylang Ylang oil is graded in the order of time in which the oil is collected during the distillation process. Each produces slightly different scents and properties which determine what it will be used for, perfumes, beauty products or food flavorings.
The Ylang Ylang oil’s mesmerizing exotic fragrance is described as sweet banana, sensual sugary honey and florally jasmine.
