Peel’s Honey began in 1924 in the Midlands with Jack Peel, a hobbyist beekeeper whose honey quickly gained popularity. In 1956, he partnered with fellow beekeeper John Smith, and after Jack’s passing in 1959, John and his wife Faye carried on the legacy—selling honey from a roadside car boot and later a wooden kiosk.
Today, Peel’s is the oldest surviving honey brand in South Africa, known for its heritage and commitment to pure, locally sourced honey. Over the years, the brand has grown under various owners while staying true to its roots, supporting local beekeepers and producing high-quality honey. The Peel’s shop on the Midlands Meander remains a beloved landmark, continuing to connect generations through authentic South African honey.
